The Dark Knight Rises To Shoot In Imax

Here’s an interesting piece of movie news, readers. The Dark Knight looked awesome on Imax didn’t it. Remember that vertiginous opening shot? According to sources, Christopher Nolan wants to shoot The Dark Knight Rises entirely in the format. Several scenes in the classic second picture utilized Imax but not the rest was transferred.

There are plenty of technological factors to overcome in making Nolan’s dream come true. The fact Imax cameras are loud, massive and lack grace in the movement department, should be noted. But again according to the report Imax have been working on creating a lighter model of camera allowing the director to execute his plans.

He’s wisely rejected shooting in 3D (yay!) and perhaps the knowledge The Dark Knight rocked the house in Imax, cinema-goers will flood to see it. As Richard Zanuck once told me: “It’s a slam dunk”. Nolan has been quoted saying:

“We’re looking to do something technologically that’s never been done before.”

Is that a clue? In other Batman news: Nolan has been meeting up with the likes of Anne Hathaway, Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts, Blake Lively, Natalie Portman and Keira Knightley to choose who’ll play Bruce Wayne’s love interest and also a major villain.

No word yet on who’ll win the prize roles but my money is on Anne Hathaway. She’s great!
