You’d think that if Academy Award winner Renée Zellweger took on a horror film that you’d have heard about it right? Wrong. In late 2006 Zellweger shot CASE 39, directed by Christian Alvart, written by Ray Wright and distributed by Paramount Pictures.
The film tells the story of family services social worker Emily Jenkins. Emily thinks she has seen it all until she meets her newest, most mysterious case, troubled 10-year old Lilith Sullivan (Jodelle Ferland). Emily’s worst fears are confirmed when the parents try to kill Lilith, their only daughter. Emily saves her and decides to take her in herself until the right foster family comes along. Then the real horror begins…
The story sounds like a winner, and judging from the trailer (released a couple of weeks back), it’s certainly a film worthy of being firmly on this year’s radar, leaving me wondering how I missed it off of mine!
So after being pushed back not once but TWICE, here’s hoping that this film gets the reception it apparently deserves. Check out the spooky trailer below:
