Ridley Scott Talks ALIEN Prequel

ridley-scottEverybody loves Aliens, I’m not talking the irritatingly nice variety like ET, I’m talking the real deal – the Xenomorphs of the Alien saga.

So when news broke earlier this year that Fox were going ahead with an Alien prequel and that none other than SIR RIDLEY SCOTT was going to be at the helm, suddenly, all was right with the world! Speaking at the London Film Festival, Empire asked Scott about the film and the direction it would take, and while everyone has assumed that it may be the story of how those nasty lil’ critters ended up on planetoid LV-426, Sir Ridley hinted at something else entirely:

“It’s a brand new box of tricks,” said Sir Ridley. “We know what the road map is, and the screenplay is now being put on paper. The prequel will be a while ago. It’s very difficult to put a year on Alien, but [for example] if Alien was towards the end of this century, then the prequel story will take place thirty years prior.”

Based on what Ridley is saying, it looks like Fox could be positioning this prequel for a whole other series – another trilogy perhaps?

Ridley was also quizzed on his reason for returning to the series after so many years, something he was more than happy to address:

“I never thought I’d look forward to a sequel,” said Sir Ridley. “But a prequel is kind of interesting. I’m looking forward to doing that.”

What do you think? Are you excited to see Ridley at the helm once more? Give us your thoughts…
