It’s barely a week since Sylvester Stallone’s Rambo V was announced to the world’s press – and it seems that already we’re being given a synopsis.
Speculation was that John Rambo would face off against human traffickers and drug lords in the fifth installment, however Stallone has spoken to Harry Knowles at AICN to straighten out the rumours. According to Stallone the plot involves a much more sinister twist, bordering on science fiction.
You see Rambo V: The Savage Hunt as it’s now known, takes us back to the place where we first met the legendary veteran – in the Pacific Northwest. It seems that the U.S. Government have set up a top secret facility and are experimenting on soliders in an effort to create the perfect killing machine, but as usual with these things, not all goes as planned:
The plan is create brilliantly instinctual killer soldiers that have no qualms about taking life. Sly brought up the ancient Immortals, which were cartoonishly glimpsed in 300. In reality, they were children trained from the time they were infants to kill.
Well as happens with Government Experiments to create the perfect killer – it goes exceptionally well… and then exceptionally badly. And Rambo is brought in with a Black Ops squad (“Like in PREDATOR”) to hunt, capture or kill this worse than Rambo killer.
The current buzz word that are circulating the net is “savage beast”, so with that in mind how human are we expecting Rambo’s nemisis to be? While there may be some sci-fi elements to Rambo V, I wouldn’t expect them to err to far from the original idea – soldier vs soldier in a bloody showdown, so I’d expect some funky looking contact lenses and some fearsome looking guys but I can’t see them edging any further into monster movie territory than that.
