Mark Wahlberg Offered Lead In Crow Remake

Mark Wahlberg, soon set to star alongside Christian Bale in “The Fighter” has been offered another lead role – in Relativity Media’s long suffering remake of 1994 film, The Crow.

The news comes via Bloody Disgusting that the star has been approached to play Eric Draven, a role immortalised on film by Brandon Lee. In the original, Eric Draven and his fiance are brutally murdered, Draven is then given the chance to come back from the dead to avenge their deaths.

We first reported on a remake of The Crow nearly two years ago, “The League Of Extraordinary Gentlemen” director, Stephen Norrington has been attached to direct ever since although the project has never really seemed to pick up much pace, leaving fans wondering if the project would ever gain any traction. According to BD the script has been written by Nick Cave and it looks like Stephen Norrington could well still be helming the picture, whether Wahlberg will sign on board remains to be seen.

The studio were planning to begin shooting at some point this year but with time ticking away it could well be 2011 before camera begin to roll, we’ll keep you updated on this one as things develop.
