Have you heard about this year’s drought warning? No not the weather, the limited supply of Doctor Who and Torchwood being drip-fed to the British public this year, still at least it’s better than going cold turkey right?
If you can’t wait for your next installment from David Tennant’s tenth Doctor then continue reading for the spoilerish goodness below, if you’d rather not know then I suggest you look away now!
io9 had the scoop from the Doctor Who set where they’re currently filming the last two feature length episodes of 2009. The two episodes in question are thought to be one long, arching storyline which sees Tennant’s Doctor finished off for good, paving the way for Matt Smith to take up the mantle as the eleventh Doctor in 2010.
The scoop itelf comes in picture form, the image features John Simm (who played The Master in season 3 of the new look series) and Timothy Dalton (in some very spiffy looking threads) stood alondside Tennant. Rumours have been abound for some time that The Master would be making a triumphant return in time to finish of The Doctor, and if this image is what I think it is then I think we’ve just had that rumour confirmed.
As for Dalton, the robes do look very Timelord-like, and the common train of thought seems to be that he will be playing the Chancellor of the High Council of Time Lords. Could this be an unholy alliance between The Master and another Timelord? Unfortunately you’ll have to wait until November to find out, until then check out the image below:

I’m surprised that the BBC let this photo slip, either this is a massive wind-up or red herring, or someone will hang for this.
Remember how secretive they were about the season 4 finale? There is no way Russel T Davies would want spoilers from his swan-song episodes leaked on the net.
I am glad they didnt do a sereis this year. With a year gap people who miss it will be even more happy wen it comes back on tv.
I dont think that the master should be the one to kill the dr, but I am glad he will be back on our screens!
I wish Tennant were staying on for another season really, Matt Smith is just a punk kid
I cant wate for Tennent to go, he has been the doctor for way to long! Not sure about Simms comin back tho, was crap first time round
Simm wasn’t right as the Master I’ll agree, or at least the material he was given wasn’t right. But with Tennant on the way out, I expect he’ll go with a huge bang!
I read in IMDB that Dalton is playing the master
You can’t trust the IMDB, though. Any fool can edit that database.
To be honest though Anon, until the BBC confirm just who is who in that photo we don’t know whether Dalton will be playing The Master or not. Who’s to say that Simm doesn’t get killed in the story a regenerate into Timothy Dalton?
John simm made a great master cant wait to see him back hopefulyl we will see John
Simm more regularly as the master like Anthony Ainley who was a great master.
John SIMM {Yes, it is SIMM – not Simms} was brilliant as The Master, playing the role with just the right amunt of menace and charm.
In the guise of Harold Saxon, The Master was more exciting than our real lfe politicians:-)
Very valuable message
Note the blond hair on J Simm -this looks like the Master before he aged into Yana, hate to say it but this could be a flash back.
[...] as The Master, The End of Time is the penultimate episode for David Tennant, and based on recent set leaks, we know that Simms isn’t the only Time Lord to be making an appearance in Tennant’s [...]
