Halo Movie Nearing Green-Light

Steven Spielberg is in active negotiations to produce the big screen adaptation of HALO, based on the video game of the same name. IESB learned last week that Spielberg is “blown away” by the writer Stuart Beattie’s treatment entitled HALO: THE FALL OF REACH.

While Spielberg is currently in negotiations over the producing the film, the Halo project has previously suffered major hurdles in it’s quest for the green light, with “District 9″ director Neill Blomkamp and Peter Jackson previously failing to bring the property to the big screen at 20th Century Fox and Universal. But this recent development involving Spielberg is rock solid, according to the IESB:

IESB has learned exclusively (believe me this is solid and I’ve confirmed it three times over with studio executives and our close ties to CAA) that one of the biggest producers in Hollywood history is currently in active negotiations to develop the feature film adaptation and no it’s not Jerry Bruckheimer or Peter Jackson. It’s the man behind Jaws, E.T., Indiana Jones and Transformers, Mr. Steven Spielberg.

Spielberg is blown away by writer Stuart Beattie’s take on the game in his script entitled HALO THE FALL OF REACH. This coupled with the fact that his Dream works umbrella is looking for a big tent pole to help launch their newly independent studio with distribution over at Walt Disney Pictures after losing Transformers to Paramount in the separation, it’s the perfect combination.

With Spielberg as producer, the question must now be – who would direct this monster property? Could Spielberg also sit in the director’s chair?
