David Tennant Goes To Hollywood

David Tennant fans may be gutted that his stint as Doctor Who is nearly over. But it looks like we could be seeing much more of him on the big screen in the future.

That’s because Tennant has spoken out about his plans to break Hollywood. And surely he has what it takes! The good looks, great actor, and an English accent they’ll love over in the States. Tennant hopes that his new TV show in the U.S., the NBC series ‘Rex is not your Lawyer,’ will be a success, so he can move over to Los Angeles for good.

“It seems British actors are more and more in vogue over there – look at Hugh Laurie,” he said. “He’s just about as big a star as you get in the States and he’s made it in a role he would never have been given here”.

“But I’m not really thinking, ‘Well, they all did it, so I’ll do it.’ There’s no great plan. You just muddle along, and if an opportunity comes up, it would be silly not to take it.”

Tennant’s new U.S. Comedy series centre’s around his character, a top lawyer who starts suffering from panic attacks and eventually coaches his clients to represent themselves in court, so he no longer has to. NBC has high hopes for the pilot, which could be given a full season if it goes down well with audiences.

Tennant was the 10th Doctor and is preparing to bow out of the Tardis in a two-part Dr Who BBC Christmas special. He will regenerate into Matt Smith, the latest actor to take on the time-travelling sci-fi role.

But there’s no doubt that David Tennant has been one of the most popular Time Lords in the history of Doctor Who. He is popular with the ladies and fella’s alike, often a hard middle ground to find!

When he appeared in a Royal Shakespeare Company production of Hamlet last year, tickets for the London run sold out in less than three hours.

Despite admitting that he has a Hollywood career in his sights, he has denied any plans for a Doctor Who movie. The 38-year-old Scottish actor was in Hollywood at the same time as the BBC One show’s executive producer and writer Russell T Davies – sparking rumours of an upcoming film with Tennant reprising the role of the Doctor.

Surely that would be impossible now he has given up the role – but hey, it’s Doctor Who, so anything can happen. My guess is though, we will be seeing him in some brand new roles on the big screen, and on the Hollywood Red Carpet very soon indeed.
