evan-rachel-wood-faceBledel, Kline And Wood…apart from sounding like a back alley law firm, this is largely good news! Robert Redford’s period drama, THE CONSPIRATOR, has picked up a handful of fresh acting talent today as Evan Rachel Wood, Kevin Kline and Alexis Bledel have been cast alongside James McAvoy and Robin Wright Penn in the film, which takes place during the aftermath of President Kennedy’s assassination.

Also joining the already-strong cast in the film (which began shooting this past Monday) is Tom Wilkinson. According to Variety:

Wright Penn plays Mary Surratt, the only female charged in the conspiracy to kill the president, and McAvoy plays Frederick Aiken, the war hero assigned to defend her. Wilkinson will play Reverdy Johnson, the former attorney general who as a U.S. senator is the mentor to the young lawyer and sympathetic to Surratt. Wood plays Surratt’s daughter, Anna, and Kline plays Lincoln’s War Secretary Edwin Stanton. Bledel plays Aiken’s wife, Sarah Weston.

Justin Long also plays a role.

Redford is producing with AFC’s Robert Stone, Webster Stone and Brian Falk and Kingsgate Films’ Greg Shapiro. Wildwood Enterprises’ Bill Holderman is exec producer.

The Conspirator hits theatres sometime next year, keep em peeled for further updates!
