It’s official and straight from the horse’s mouth! Bill Murray, in a pow-wow with Mail on Sunday tabloid, confirmed he’s going to take part in the much mooted Ghostbusters 3. Signourney Weaver dropped hints during press duties for Avatar, but now Peter Venkman himself has given the nod that it’s all true. The legendary comic actor said:
“I’ll come back in Ghostbusters 3 only if I get to be a ghost.I said to them, ‘I’ll do it if you kill me off in the first reel.’ So now they are going to have me as a ghost in the film.”
In December, Ivan Reitman confirmed he’d be up for directing the third installment of the 1980s classics, but I’ve a bigger question: Will Rick Moranis be in it? What’s the pint-sized Canadian been up to all these years? There’s no information on the storyline yet, but the rumour going around is that it will feature the old ghostbusters training a new group. Who could the new generation be? Paul Rudd and all those chaps from the Judd Apatow movies? There’s a thought!
Let’s hope Dan Ackroyd and Harold Ramis’ script passes muster. The last time Ackroyd resurrected a classic, he gave us Blues Brothers 2000 (shudder). Expectation and hype will reach silly levels, but they’ve got to deliver to make it worth while. And please do NOT cast Jack Black! (he’s not attached or anything, but he’s rubbish).

If Jack Black was cast it would put me right off, I would prefer someone like Jonah Hill than Jack Black.

Jack Black and Michael Cera are both in consideration based on their performance in Ramis' Year One. Sorry, folks.
