Thor Featurette Online

Check out this first look at Marvel’s Thor movie from EW. It’s the very glimpse of what Kenneth Branagh’s been up to at Manhattan Studios and although it doesn’t reveal anything in the way of spoilers (as if they’d dare!), it’s still brilliant to see!

The film stars an eclectic cast including Anthony Hopkins, Natalie Portman, Idris Elba and Chris Hemsworth as the hero himself.

Lord knows what the end result will be like, but if you’ve seen any of Branagh’s other films, it will be grandiose, Shakespearean and probably bombastic. Not that those are bad things. I’m quite looking forward to this. Branagh’s four-hours-long unabridged Hamlet is a masterpiece…shot on 70mm too. Epic.

Thor opens 6th May, 2011 and by his mighty hammer, you will be there!

UK Exclusive – Gerard Butler On Law Abiding Citizen

Law Abiding Citizen blasts into UK cinemas this Friday and to celebrate, we’ve been sent an audio interview with leading man Gerard Butler, otherwise known as that guy who blows shit up.

Talking to film correspondent James Kleinmann, Butler talked about his passion for the film and his reasons behind taking on the explosive project. Check the full interview out below:

Clyde Shelton (GERARD BUTLER) is an honest, upstanding family man. Nick Rice (JAMIE FOXX) is an ambitious young prosecutor working for a safer Philadelphia.

When Clyde’s wife and young daughter are brutally murdered, Nick is assigned to the case. On the verge of sentencing, Nick sensationally cuts a deal with one of the killers, sparing him from death row.

Ten years later, the man who got away with murder is found dead. Clyde Shelton coolly admits his guilt before issuing a warning to Nick; either fix the flawed justice system that failed his family or key players in the trial will pay the price.

Nick now finds himself in a desperate race against time as a series of elaborate assassinations target the ranks of the city’s criminal justice system. Only he can stop the killings and to do so, he must outwit a brilliant adversary who always seems to be one step ahead.

Has Pirates 4 Found It’s Director?

Since Gore Verbinski stepped down from the director’s chair of Pirates of the Caribbean 4 to focus on a movie version of the vidgame “Bioshock” (which never took off), there’s been one question that Pirates fans have been desperate to have answered – WHO will step up to direct?

Well it seems we may have our answer to that question folks, as Variety have announced that Disney are close to signing up Rob Marshall to direct Johnny Depp and Co. in the fourth installment of the popular fantasy adventure.

According to Variety, producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Disney have been meeting with a number of directors in recent weeks, because the studio wants to pull the “Pirates” film together and have Depp star in it before he does “The Lone Ranger” for the producer and the studio.

And while Marshall’s involvement hasn’t been immediately confirmed, sources have said that things look good enough that the studio has begun casting new characters that will appear in the picture.

I’m of two minds about this film, I love the first two installments in the Pirates series but the third one left me feeling a little deflated. Assuming this film is the start of a new trilogy it needs to recapture the magic and the surprise of that initial installment – 2003′s Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

With rumours rife that Captain Jack Sparrow’s BROTHER could well make an appearance in the film (with names like Russell Brand attached to star) it could well be that Disney sends the characters on one voyage too many in the name of box office takings.

Still, Brand could work as a character. Lets face it the guy IS a real life Jack Sparrow already, and provided the story (and the scope) is toned down as has been suggested hopefully we can get back to a good, character driven story.
