New Image From The Expendables

It’s the movie that everyone is waiting for, packed with more action heroes than you’d dare shake a stick at, The Expendables is definitely one to watch out for in 2010.

With that in mind, the lucky buggers at Empire Online have released an exclusive image from the film, which stars Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Mickey Rourke, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Randy Couture, Eric Roberts, Danny Trejo, Charisma Carpenter, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Curtis Jackson, Brittany Murphy and David Zayas.

As well as the image (which you can check out below), the Empire folk also had the chance to talk to Stallone about the film. When asked about his aim for the film, writer/director Stallone said:

“What I wanted to do was just try to do something that is a little different. Today, technically, we’re incredibly gifted and versatile with CGI, and I wanted to do a film that was more about men, doing things that we did back in the 80s and 90s that were a little more mano a mano – actual, physical stunts. It’s also a story that isn’t super-gigantic; it’s almost a believable story. And the thing was to find certain personalities that never would have worked together normally and put them all together. It’s like the dream team. It just hasn’t been done. I guess it’s kinda like The Dirty Dozen”

Not even The Dirty Dozen had a lineup like this if you ask me! Either way, head over to Empire for the rest of the interview and don’t forget to check out the image below:

Tron Legacy US Poster

The good folks over at Disney have let us have a look at the US poster for Tron Legacy, an accompanying still and official synopsis. For many of a certain age the original Tron is a much loved classic and news of a sequel held a great sense of anticipation. It looks, too, like the filmmakers are sticking to the groundbreaking visuals of the first and it will be presented in 3-D and IMAX, too.

The synopsis runs:

“Sam Flynn (Garret Hedlund), the tech-savvy 27 year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the digital world of Tron where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant Quorra (Olivia Wilde), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey of escape across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.”

Three TV Spots For A Nightmare On Elm Street

Given my newcomer excitement yesterday over the new trailer for A Nightmare on Elm Street, I all but overlooked the three TV spots that also landed on the inter-web! Criminal I know, but no doubt Freddy will see to it that I’m suitably eviscerated in my sleep tonight so all will be good in the world once more.

The TV spots, which come to us courtesy of TheMovieBox.net, feature some new footage, as well as another look at the untimely death of one Mr. Kruegar. They’re worth checking out so take a look below, I’ll post more Nightmare updates as they happen – presuming I survive another night’s sleep!

Freddy Krueger returns in “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” a contemporary re-imagining of the horror classic. A group of suburban teenagers share one common bond: they are all being stalked by Freddy Krueger, a horribly disfigured killer who haunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can protect one another…but when they sleep, there is no escape.

Donning Freddy’s trademark fedora, red-and-green striped sweater, and four-bladed glove is Academy Award nominee Jackie Earle Haley (”Little Children,” “Watchmen”). The film is being directed by award-winning music video and commercial director Samuel Bayer (Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” Green Day’s “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”), marking his feature film debut. The teens who are terrorized by Freddy Krueger are played by an ensemble of young actors, including Kyle Gallner (”The Haunting in Connecticut”), Katie Cassidy (”Taken,” TV’s “Supernatural”), Rooney Mara (”Urban Legend: Bloody Mary”), Thomas Dekker (”Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles”), and Kellan Lutz (”Twilight,” upcoming “The Twilight Saga: New Moon”). The supporting cast also includes veteran character actor Clancy Brown (”The Shawshank Redemption,” “Highlander”) and Connie Britton (”Friday Night Lights”).
