Hangover 2 Heads to Thailand

Looks like the Hangover fellas will be heading to Thailand for boom-boom time with some mama-sans and get into a whole host of hilarious trouble – just like they did in Vegas (baby). Hangover 2 director Todd Phillps denied to Collider back in March that the movie would be heading Far East, but looks like he was lying, or being playful?

Coming Soon are currently adamant the new film will see Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifiankis and the other two prepping for a Thai-based shoot this coming Autumn. Wherever the hell it’s shooting, they better be fast: Hangover 2 is scheduled for release 26th May, 2011.

Most people were surprised by the success of Todd Phillips’ original movie that saw four buddies head to Las Vegas for a weekend of partying. When one of them goes missing, they search high and low and get into more scrapes than a destruction derby.

Expect lady boy gags, much silliness and probably a laugh riot. There’s a lot to live up to after the success of the first one. Sequels are notorious for not matching the quality of the original. Will this buck the trend?

Martin Scorsese Directing Kids Movie…In 3D!

The one person you’d never have guessed in a million, make that a billion years, to jump on the 3D bandwagon is St. Martin Scorsese. Or that he’d direct a kid’s movie. But stand back, because he’s doing both! The American filmmaker will devote the next year or so of his life to The Invention of Hugo Cabret. The film is being shot with 3D cameras rather than having a post-production conversion, too.

Collider report the script has been written by John Logan and will star Sacha Baron Cohen, Chloe Moretz, Ben Kingsley and Asa Butterfield. No doubt “name” actors will be joining them. The story is centred on a young lad who lives in a Parisian metro.

Here’s the book’s synopsis to get you up-to-date:

ORPHAN, CLOCK KEEPER, AND THIEF, twelve-year-old Hugo lives in the walls of a busy Paris train station, where his survival depends on secrets and anonymity. But when his world suddenly interlocks with an eccentric girl and the owner of a small toy booth in the train station, Hugo’s undercover life, and his most precious secret, are put in jeopardy. A cryptic drawing, a treasured notebook, a stolen key, a mechanical man, and a hidden message all come together… in The Invention of Hugo Cabret.

The Invention of Hugo Cabret is set for a December 2011 release and his based on the award-winning novel by Brian Selznick.

Tommy Lee Jones To Join Captain America?

He’s a much respected actor and famous grouch, and he’s not adverse to appearing in the occasional blockbusters, either. But according to UGO, the Texan star is currently in “talks” to take a role in Joe Johnston’s First Avenger: Captain America.

There’s nothing confirmed, nor denied about Jones’s involvement, but it’s fairly obvious he’ll be playing a military general or something befitting his age and experience. He’d certainly bring some much needed gravitas to proceedings.

Marvel’s latest film to head into production sees Chris Evans’ soldier turned into a superhero to fend off the dreaded Nazis and The Red Skull (Hugo Weaving). Director Johnston originally wanted an unknown to take the role but following the dictum of Donald Rumsfeld, Marvel and he went for a “known unknown that we know about”. Evans, of course, played Johnny Storm in Tim Story’s fun by much loathed Fantastic Four films, but he’s hardly a mega star…yet.

It’s been rather quiet on the Tommy Lee Jones front of late, he won praise for his role in No Country For Old Men, but what since? There’s still the important matter of Men In Black 3 to clear up. Will he or won’t he be returning? I’d hazard a guess and say he’ll turn it down.
