Olivia Wilde In Line For Tomb Raider?

She kicked ass and set a few pulses racing as Quorra in last year’s “Tron: Legacy” and now she may be set to do the same according to recent rumors, which have actress Olivia Wilde pegged for the plum role of Lara Croft in a new Tomb Raider movie!

Word has been for a while now that studios are trying to get a Tomb Raider reboot off of the ground following two failed movies starring Angelina Jolie as our intrepid explorer. Way back in 2009 even Megan Fox was attached to the project, even though those rumors were quite quickly quashed.

The latest whispers come from The Fan Carpet, who quote an unnamed source as saying:

“This would be a far darker and more serious Tomb Raider movie, the idea is to get a top director and an intelligent script and make this an empowering character for women as well as a popular one with men. Olivia is just one of the names being suggested for the lead role. She would appear to be ideal.”

During Angelina’s reign, the series was very much tongue-in-cheek, missing entirely the atmosphere of the game series created by Eidos Interactive. Olivia would seem to be perfect for the role, having already proven she can get to grips with sexy, kick-ass characters. However given the vague nature of the source this rumour is best served with a pinch of salt for the time being.

Olivia Wilde is next set to appear in Jon Favreau’s sci-fi actioner, “Cowboys & Aliens”, due out later this year.
