It is only rumour and hearsay at the moment, but according to CHUD, writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are in discussing with Fox to pen X-Men Origins: Deadpool. This has the potential to bring a bit of verve and humour to the franchise after X-Men Origins: Wolverine disappointed more than a few of us.
Ryan Reynolds, busy shooting The Green Lantern, has stated several times he’d be up for returning as the character. Matched with Reese and Wernick’s excellent comedy dialogue – this could be special. Zombieland a sleeper hit. Nobody saw it coming and it turned out one of the most enjoyable films of 2009. Reynolds is clearly a fan of comic books as he’s starred in a few films now based on several classic titles.
Don’t expect this to happen any time soon. With Ryan Reynolds on other projects and the script contracts still being sorted (remember, this is pure rumourville!) it would be a safe bet to say this won’t happen for a couple of years.
