Back in the late 1980s and early 1990s, Jean-Claude van Damme flirted with the mainstream before disappearing into a world of low budget chop-socky nonsense found in many bargain bins across the globe. Perhaps his biggest shot at the big time was starring alongside Dolph Lundgren in Roland Emmerich’s high concept actioner – Universal Soldier.
Well guess what? They’re back! Whilst hardly an anticipated release, in the spirit of boyhood adoration of really stupid and comically violent action films – here’s the brand new trailer for Universal Soldier: Regeneration.
It’s been a good 17 years since the original blasted onto our cinema screens. And for old times’ sake, Lundgren versus the Muscles from Brussels is back on the menu. Rumour has it, Lundgren shot all his scenes in five days before running away with his pay cheque. The plot revolves around some bad-ass trying to blow up Chenobyl (didn’t this happen already?) and a “final showdown”. Sounds riveting. This probably will get a Blu-ray/DVD release, so don’t count on seeing it at the multiplex.
Playing their original Vietnam war vet characters in a battle to the death (probably), expect terrible dialogue and stuff blowing up.
