Two More Join Thor’s Team
It’s been a while since we’ve had any casting news on Thor, Marvel Studio’s next big screen adaptation which will be directed by British thesp Kenneth Brannagh. Today we get to break the silence and announce that Jaimie Alexander and Colm Feore both join Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston and Natalie Portman in the Norse fantasy adventure.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alexander joins the cast as Sif, an Asguardian warrior and Thor’s true love. Where this leaves Thor’s human girlfriend Jane Foster (Portman) is anyone’s guess but it definitely rules out Jessica Biel who was originally rumoured to have the role.
Feore’s character is known to be a villain in the piece but that’s it. At this point the plot seems to be a mystery to everybody – the cast aren’t even being sent scripts until filming begins!
What we do know is taken from the comic books – the story centers on Thor, a powerful god and son of Odin (Brian Blessed), Thor is an arrogant character whose actions re-ignite an ancient war and as punishment Thor is sent to Earth and forced to live among the humans.
The film will, of course, line Thor up to take his place alongside Iron Man, Captain America and Nick Fury in The Avengers in 2012.
