Trouble With Green Lantern?

Ryan Reynolds Green lanternTwitter, which is increasingly proving itself to be the newest source for movie scoops had done it again! This time around Production Weekly have “tweeted” about the upcoming, and dare I say highly anticipated DC Comics/Warner Bros. release THE GREEN LANTERN – and it doesn’t look good!

Production Weekly have pointed us to an article on Australian news site Inside Film, in which is seems that the production costs for the Lantern’s first big screen outing may be shot to pieces:

Green Lantern’s proposed Australian shoot is understood to be under threat after the rising Australian dollar has blown out production costs.

Warner Bros is understood to be negotiating with the NSW State Government to receive a higher level of concessions in an effort to claw back between $US15 and $US25 million in value eroded by the currency gains.

As I understand it The Green Lantern – which features Ryan Reynolds as our leading man – was budgeted for a $150 million production, which it has to be said is a pretty fair figure for a first film. Whether Warner Bros. will be able to claw back any additional concessions from the Aussie Government remains to be seen. It’s taken this film long enough to reach a “green light” status as it is, so I certainly hope so!

Wasn't the url that was included with their tweet directed at Inside Film's own website? It was when I clicked on it?
  • Craig, when I spotted the tweet from Production Weekly, it had no credit to any other site, it just had one sentence, which turned out to be copied from Inside Film. When MTV wrote their article, they credited Production Weekly and not the original source. But I'm better at this game and when i saw the Prod Weekly tweet, it seemed so random and brief, so i decided to see where they had got their info and then, after poking around online, i found Inside Film and quoted them.... since then most pieces have quoted Inside Film.

By the way, Megan Fox will never be Catwoman. Just like there won't be a Hobbit trilogy. Beware of internet fiction, there is a lot of it around.

Inside Film has its own twitter site which shared the story hours before Production Weekly copied it. You can find it here: http://twitter.com/insidefilm. Stay tuned for further updates from the original source...
