Madchen Amick, Christopher Plummer and Brad Dourif have joined the already strong cast of Priest. The three join a cast of veterans and new talent in the film, which also stars Paul Bettany, Cam Gigandet, Maggie Q and Karl Urban among others.
The announcement was made by Variety that Amick had joined the cast, while director Scott Stewart made the announcement himself regarding Plummer and Dourif – on his Twitter account.
Priest is based on the cult, Tokyo-pop comic of the same name, the film hits UK cinemas on 24th September 2010. While plot details are scarse, we do have something of a synopsis for the film:
Scripted by Cory Goodman, based on Tokyopop’s graphic novel created by Min-Woo Hyung, is a vampire Western. A warrior priest disobeys church law by teaming with a sheriff and a priestess to track down a band of renegade vampires who have kidnapped his niece.
Personally I’m a little indifferent about Madchen Amick and Brad Dourif joining the cast, Christopher Plummer is the name that has piqued my interest. General feeling seems to be that he may simply have a cameo role, while I’m hoping he may end up being a central character to the story!
