The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Shooting This Autumn?
With The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, the third installment of the popular tween vampire series already waiting in the wings, Twi-hards the world over have been speculating as to when exactly the fourth story in the series, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn would be making an appearance. Speaking to the LA Times, producer Wyck Godfrey has offered to shed some light on what is arguably the most popular book in the series and what fans can expect.
First up is the news that Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner and co. could be returning to the Twilight set as early as this Autumn (Fall to our US cousins) to shoot what might possibly be the final film in the series. I say that, because Godfrey is either unaware, or unwilling to comment on whether Breaking Dawn will be one movie, or two:
the plan is absolutely for the production to go forward — as either one or two installments — with an eye toward beginning to shoot in Vancouver this fall.
If you haven’t yet read Breaking Dawn then consider this a spoiler alert, because in the fourth book of the series, a recently graduaded Bella Swan falls pregnant with Edward Cullen’s child, giving birth to a half human/half vampire baby girl as a result. And while the production team behind Summit Entertainment’s monster-sized series still don’t know how they’ll be tackling this aspect of the film:
“I keep having visions of ‘[The Curious Case of] Benjamin Button’ in my head,” Godfrey said, referring to David Fincher’s Oscar-nominated 2008 fantasy about a man who becomes physically younger as he ages. “It’s certainly going to be visual effects in some capacity along with an actor. I wouldn’t be surprised if it ends up being a full CG creation, but it also may be a human shot on a soundstage that then is used to shrink down. I don’t know. We need a director. When we get a director, that director will need to come with a point of view of how they want to tackle it.”
Another point worth considering is who will be sat in the director’s chair. Chris Weitz, director of last year’s The Twilight Saga: New Moon seems to be the popular choice, however Godfrey seems to thinks it’s unlikely:
“I think everyone would be happy and excited if he came back, but I don’t think it’s going to happen.”
