M Night Shyamalan’s summer blockbuster, The Last Airbender, is set to have a massive promotion boost this weekend when its new trailer airs during the American national event known as the Superbowl. Never understood American football, myself. It’s just rugby but with crash helmets. Film studios like to whet the appetite for their summer movies with promo clips in between all the sport and advertising and this is no exception!
The Last Airbender is based on a Nickelodeon cartoon series. The special effects look pretty great, but what’s all this, “you’re the last of your kind” gubbins? Isn’t that stuff a little old now? And doesn’t every movie like this have the same narrative trajectory? Anyway, Shyamalan is searching for his next big hit after the embarrassment entitled The Happening.
The trailer doesn’t reveal much but rather cynically focuses on the eye candy. Let us all hope there is a decent story to go with it. Shyamalan needs a hit badly to rescue his reputation. Remember the last time his kids tried to influence his career? He made The Lady In The Water.

You'd think in the 21st Century America, a movie like this would contain more Asian American actors in the lead roles. This is akin to modern day Black Face. Plus, I am betting that all the bad guys will be played by Asian actors, perpetuating the myth that Asians are somehow mysteriously evil. You'd think Hollywood would know better! BOYCOTT this turkey!

And you should actually research the movie before you talk. It contains a wide range of actors of different ethnicity. You barely see Asians!! Yall should take note that these people are casted based on their qualifications, such as good in martial arts and their looks. And for those who are disappointed that it barely contains Asians, bare in mind where the movie was filmed and those showed interest in auditioning.
Aang is American and half-asian(Taekwondo champion of Texas, usually bald)
Katara is played by another american
Zuko is played by an English (the star of Slumdog Millionaire) (good in Taekwondo) (one of the bad guys)
Firelord Ozai (the bad guy) is played by a New Zealand
Sokka another main character and the good guy is played by a guy from Singnapore (one of the dudes from Twilight)
Zhao (another bad guy) is played by an Indian/British-raised
Uncle Iroh is played by an Iran one of the good guys
Both Yue and Suki are played by Americans
Why do people have to go ahead and put such a negativel light on a good movie?
Note that filming was in Greenland and mostly in Pennsylvania
I am not white American. I'm actually a black Jamaican and people portray us as ganja smoking Rastas in movies….we complain, but we don't raise hell about it.
Watch the movie and have fun!
