Spice Girls Heading To The Theatre
Anyone a big Spice Girls fan? Their last British tour saw tickets sell like hot cakes, and now it looks like a West End show is in the works, based on the girl’s journey into super-stardom! It will include all our favourite Spice Girl songs and will likely be along the same lines as the Take That musical, “Never Forget”. But naturally this time, it will be ‘Girl Power’ running the show.
The girls have reportedly decided to name their planned West End musical ‘Viva Forever‘ after their 1998 number one single…..one of their best in my opinion too! The show is allegedly being written by Kim Fuller, who also penned the script to the movie Spiceworld and is the half-sister of the band’s former manager Simon Fuller.
Geri Halliwell has had the biggest involvement so far in the project, and has already decided that she wants to be the executive producer of the stage show.
According to The Sun, the production is scheduled to make its West End debut on November 5th next year and will include all 14 of the group’s biggest hits. The musical is expected to show the story of the sudden rise to fame of the five members Geri Halliwell, Mel Brown, Victoria Beckham, Mel Chisholm and Emma Bunton.
Even more exciting are recent reports suggesting that the band were planning to hold a talent search to find the cast for the musical! So watch out budding actresses, this could be a once in a lifetime opportunity!
It’s thought that the girls want to test the concept of a show here in London, and then see it replicated in other countries.
The Spice Girls last performed together in Toronto, Canada, in February 2008. There have been rumours of further re-unions planned, especially around the launch of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Most recently, unknown sources have said that they are also planning a spectacular performance for the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics here in London! Looks like these girls are lining themselves up for only the most exclusive gigs in the world….so if you wanna here their songs live again, might be best to wait for the musical!
