Costume Designer Patricia Field has given fans a hint of what they can expect in the way of fashion from the ladies in Sex And The City 2.
The designer, who styled the cast for last summer’s movie and the original television series, told Us Weekly that the fashion would be “more fun” this time around.
“When you’re in a recession, what do you want? You want to have a good time!”.
“White plays a big role in general because the movie takes place over seven weeks in the summer. But it won’t only be white dresses! I’m going for a new look, new elements on these familiar girls.”
She added: “I’m sure there will be some standouts that will unfold as the movie is filmed.”
Amongst the clothing and accessories that star Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie Bradshaw) has already been seen wearing on set have been a pair of Christian Louboutin heels, a white Halston Heritage dress and a Chanel clutch bag.
All four girls have been pictured in ‘80’s style outrageous clothing’ and Kritsin Davis was seen wearing a tennis outfit that made her look extremely youthful. The style of some of the vintage clothing has intimated that several scenes will be flashbacks to when the girls were in their 20’s.
Meanwhile, Kristen Davis, who plays Charlotte, has dismissed any rumours of rivalry between the girls on the set. Speaking to Us Weekly, she said:
“We are so happy and so excited to get back together”.
“The best thing about this is getting to be with your girlfriends 18 hours a day and eating lunch and dinner together every day, which nobody gets to do in their lives.”
Discussing her character’s storyline, she said:
“[Charlotte] has two kids now. We’ll have to see what that’s like for her.
“The first movie was all pent-up things we hadn’t finished in the show. Now we’re just starting fresh, in a way. It’s a new adventure!”
She added that the current recession would feature in the movie, explaining:
“If you think about the show, we always tried to be in sync with New York and the country. It’s not like we tried to pretend 9/11didn’t happen. That would be crazy.”
Davis’ co-star Kim Cattrall previously admitted that it has been a “blast” filming the sequel, which is due in cinemas on May 28, 2010.
