Server Issues – FilmShaft Update
For those of you who read our site regularly (thanks for that by the way), you may have noticed earlier this week that FilmShaft’s hosting account was suspended, without warning, and replaced with a cheap, tacky advert for our hosting company.
The reason for this rude interruption is that we seem to have become far to popular for our host to handle, and it was putting too much pressure on their ickle wickle servers, which were buckling under the strain.
Fortunately, our host (after much discussion) put us back online with the warning – should we eat into their resources again our account will be cancelled indefinately!
As such, I’ve been spending the week looking at alternative solutions, after all we can’t let our readers down now can we?
Over the next week or two, we’ll be moving the entire site over to a temporary server while we continue looking at a more permanent, dedicated server that can handle the demand in resources that FilmShaft requires in order to maintain a high level of service. I don’t anticipate any issues at this point, but should you encounter any problems over the next week or so, rest assured that they are temporary and unfortunately neccessary in order for us to continue at our rate of growth.
I for one was very unhappy with the way our hosting company approached the situation, but of course the small print was waved in my face as soon as I voiced concerns. I won’t drop the name of the company as we are not that vindictive (yet), but I will say JUST don’t HOST with this company if you can help it because, at the slightest sign of success, they’ll cut you off and refer your to their extortionate dedicated hosting plan.
Thanks for your understanding, we continue to appreciate your support.
