Sam Worthington In Yet Another Sci-Fi Film
Terminator Salvation, Avatar, and now The Last Days of American Crime – Aussie actor Sam Worthington seems to have certainly found his genre in Science fiction!
Based on the Radical Publishing comic, The Last Days of American Crime has a pretty original – if sinister twist on the traditional heist movie, Mania has more:
The comic book, created and written by Rick Remender and illustrated by Greg Tocchini, is a heist thriller told against a sci fi backdrop. In a near-future America, news has broken that, in a matter of weeks, the government is set to roll out mind-control technology that will kill the criminal impulse in all citizens. Chaos descends on America’s cities as the country braces for the new order. Career criminal Graham Brick is forced to accelerate the heist of his career with an untested new crew in order to beat the deadline. What could possibly go wrong?
Worthington, seen recently in ‘Terminator: Salvation’ and returning next month in James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ will take the role of Kevin Cash, the safecracker who (along with his beautiful girlfriend Shelby) is enlisted in the heist at the last minute.
It’ll be interesting to see how Worthington does in Cameron’s Avatar, simply because his one other appearance in big budget sci-fi (Terminator Salvation) failed to impress the masses on many levels. I personally think Worthington can give a very solid performance, and I’m sure he’ll deliver in both Avatar and this latest project, although it would be good for him to branch out every once in a while.
