Ryan Phillippe For Captain America?

Published on March 15, 2010 by Martyn Conterio   ·   View Comments

Well somebody’s got to take the lead role of Captain America and over the past couple of weeks there’s been suggestions coming out of the whazoo. If it’s not John Krasinski, it’s Chris Evans, if it’s not Chris Evans, it’s Mike Vogel. You get the picture? Now Hitfix have put their two cents worth in and have heard former husband of Reese Witherspoon, Ryan Phillippe his having his résumé looked over for the part.

Last week it was reported Hugo Weaving looks to have bagged the part of main villain, The Red Skull. Let’s hope Weaving uses a voice other than Agent Smith – every movie he’s been in since The Matrix has had the same tone and cadence; deeply annoying, Mr. Weaving. Change the record…or voice!

Will Joe Johnston and Marvel ever settle on a lead? They need to as Johnston has pencilled in a summer shoot in England. Phillippe is a great actor, but isn’t he a little bit old and too well known for the part? After all, Johnston has said plenty of times they want an unknown and somebody in their early 20s. Looks like he’s changed his mind, or Marvel has changed it for him.

It’ll probably be announced very soon…who ever it is, good luck!
