This series of mutant monsters and zombie rampages is now on its fourth installment. Resident Evil: Afterlife, orignally slated for August 2010, has now been pushed back to January 2011.
ShockTillYouDrop report the reason behind the move is all the complictated 3-D effects work. That’s right, Resident Evil 4 is going to be presented in glorious digital 3-D! Exactly the logical step in this series of b-movie tosh based on Capcom’s famous title.
Way back when, George A. Romero was hired-then-fired from Resident Evil, before Paul W. Anderson came on board and created a franchise that didn’t find its inherent b-movie soul until the Russell Mulcahy-helmed Resident Evil: Extinction. Bad news is: Anderson is back!
With its post-apocalyptic craziness, the films have only ever used the game series as a springboard for its own agenda. They obviously make enough money for them to keep making them. And let’s face it, they’re not the worst films in the world. Its all good Friday night entertainment, in fact.
Meanwhile, Screen Gems have announced that to make up for the disappointment in the delayed Res 4, Paul Bettany-starrer Priest, is set to take its place in August 2010. Priest – based on a graphic novel – follows, er, a priest, a sheriff and priestess who do battle with vampires.
