Neve Campbel Returns To Scream Franchise

neve-campbell-screamGiven the dismay our readers expressed when it was reported back in June that actress and Scream queen, Neve Campbell would not be returning to the franchise for the fourth installment, this should come as good news.

Variety reported, albeit in a brief statement, that leading lady Campbell had signed for the sequel to Wes Craven’s popular Scream series. According to ‘V’, Scream 4 will enter production in April or May 2010 and will serve as the first story in a new trilogy of films.

Scream 4 was first announced in January of this year, and it has since been confirmed that both David Arquette and his wife and co-star Courtney Cox-Arquette would also both be reprising their roles as dopey detective Dwight ‘Dewey’ Riley and hard-hearted bitch-come-reporter Gale Weathers.

Dimension Films and Bob Weinstein are currently in discussions with Wes Craven to direct the picture, which is expected to capitalize on the recent rise of 3D cinema. Weinstein has also expressed his interest in pursuing further 3D horror trips with Halloween III, Hellraiser and Scanners. More on those as we get it.
