Perhaps Jack Bauer does enjoy some downtime at the flickers between kicking terrorist ass, but this isn’t about that! There’s been rumours for absolutely ages about 24 blasting on to our screens for a thoroughly cinematic adventurethon. Some characters are just too big for television. Entertainment Weekly have, like pigs searching for truffles, sniffed out a great piece of news!
Billy Ray, the director of the little-seen-but-brilliant Shattered Glass and co-writer on State of Play, has pitched a script to 20th Century Fox – and they like it! It’s still very early days, so don’t be counting any chickens.
24, since it’s appearance in the quagmire of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, has given worldwide audiences a fantasy revenge on those evil-doers who don’t like our freedom very much. And like the song goes, “freedom isn’t free”, and Jack Bauer came to collect. Big time!
The show gave Kiefer Sutherland a massive boost to his faltering career and there was even a black president way before Barack Obama was voted commander-in-chief. Will 24: The Movie retain the show’s ludicrous but thrilling storylines? Will Jack Bauer have his swan song in movie format? In 3D? Questions. Questions. Questions.
Nothing is known yet, but Billy Ray might have saved the day.

“24″ did do a lot for Kiefer's career. I've been reading his bio, “Living Dangerously” and author Christopher Heard suggests that Kiefer's life might go off the tracks again if “24″ ends. Kiefer has a history with alcohol and has even done time in prison for DUI. Acting seems to keep him on track. Maybe a “24″ film franchise would be a good thing for him.
