Don’t look now, but it seems that the as-yet untitled Indiana Jones 5 could be further along the development chain than originally thought.
Back in June both Shia LaBeouf and producer Frank Marshall confirmed that Indy 5 was indeed gearing up to go into production – but now it looks like that could be happening soon rather than later if today’s report is to be believed.
According to The Insider, Harrison Ford is set to reprise his role as archeologist-come-action hero Indiana Jones – despite the fact that the actor is now nearly 70 years old! According to the site:
It is claimed filming will not start until next year, and it will not be released before 2011, when the star will be 69.
A source said: “Harrison has kept himself in good shape and could still do a lot of the stunts in the last film.”
The source added: “But it’s obviously not going to get any easier the older he gets. He certainly would never have imagined playing Indiana Jones when he was nearing 70!”
I’m not entirely sure what to make of this news, which is user submitted by the way and not the work of Insider editorial staff. Is it rumour? If it isn’t then how can Ford continue to play an action hero when in reality age is kicking in. Either way it looks like this once loved franchise is far from over – I just hope we don’t end up with another Crystal Skull…
