Duchovny Looks To X-Files 3
With The X Files: I Want to Believe having done okay at the box office last year and fans calling for more of Agents Mulder and Scully, David Duchovny (Agent Fox Mulder to the uninitiated) has been talking about the possibility of a third X-Files film.
The original X-Files series, which ran from 1993 to 2002 made global stars of Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, making global stars of the pair. Duchovny has since gone on to find television fame once more with the character Hank Moody in the Showtime original series Californication, but could there really be a third film, does The X-Files still have a story to tell?
“As far as the X-Files movie I’d like to do next, if we get a chance to do it, would be a return to the heart and soul of the mythology, which is the alien-oriented conspiracy. I think it’s natural for The X-Files to have another movie in 2012, so we’ll see if we get to do it.”
While “I Want To Believe” was received reasonably well by fans and the cinema-going public, the film was widely panned by critics, however Duchovny seems to be taking that all in his stride:
“I was happy with it… I have nothing but respect for [X-Files creator] Chris Carter and the writing staff.”
So could we see a third X-Files film? Talking to The Daily Beast, Duchovny seems to think so, and I have to (begrudgingly) admit that I wouldn’t mind seeing another adventure for Mulder and Scully too…
