Once again the British tabloids remind us all why we must take what they say with not just a pinch of salt – but a whole truck load!
Yesterday, British “Journalist” Gordon Smart of The Sun reported that Megan Fox had been cast as Catwoman in the follow up to last year’s “The Dark Knight,” currently known as “Batman 3″. This was not the only fabrication in his story, as Smart then went on to state emphatically that Batman 3 WOULD be shooting next year with an anticipated release date of 2011! This despite the fact that Batman helmer Chris Nolan hasn’t even announced his intentions to do a third installment yet!
FilmShaft covered the story, mainly due to the bold claims being made, but even then I categorically made clear the information had no weight to it and that basically what The Sun had said had given me a reading of 2,000,000% on my Crap-o-meter scale! And of course today low and behold the rumours have turned out to be false, as confirmed by Warner Bros. themselves, courtesy of People.com:
“It’s rumor. It’s not true,” said a studio rep. “There is no script. There is no project to be cast in.”
It seems to be increasingly common in this country for news outlet’s to completely fabricate stories and pass them off as gospel and it’s getting on my nips a bit too – which is exactly what I was telling my good friend Johnny Depp the other day too…
