Anne Hathaway Joins Spider-Man 4 Speculation

Hathaway Black Cat Over the past couple of weeks speculation has been rife as to who, if anybody, would be joining the cast of Spider-Man 4 as feline fatale The Black Cat.

The first name to join the list, you may recall, was Rachel McAdams, who was said to have met with producers to discuss the part. Naturally Rachel denied all, but it wasn’t long before the list grew to include Romola Garai (who allegedly auditioned for the role) and Julia Stiles (who UGO claim had also met with producers.

Today news reaches me via Nikke Finke that Anne Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada, Alice in Wonderland) may have joined that list.

News broke on Deadline Hollywood that Hathaway has been approached for a starring role alongside Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst in the film, and although no mention is made of the feline cat burglar, the role of The Black Cat seems most likely. This from the Finke:

You know I’m insecure about my geek bonafides which I’ve been trying to improve in recent years. (Heck, I grew up never reading a single comic book.) But I’m aware that the Internet has been afloat with Spider-Man 4 casting rumors in recent days. While Sony Pictures insists no decisions have been made, sources tell me that the producers have approached Anne Hathaway to star in the film. Maybe you experts have an idea what she’ll play? All I know is that she’s wanted for a starring role, and she won’t replace Kirsten Dunst who’s also cast in the Spidey fourquel.

So of course all that’s left to say here is: who would YOU cast as The Black Cat? Do you have a preferred actress from the list or would you cast somebody else entirely?
