You may have heard the recent rumours that a sequel to the phenomenally successful 300 was in the works, if you haven’t then where the hell have you been?
That aside, 300 producer Mark Canton has recently spoken to MTV about the proposed sequel, and it looks like he’s got a lot to say! Gerard Butler starred in the original as King Leonidas in the 2006 fantasy epic, and despite the fact that the character was killed by seemingly thousands of arrows – that isn’t to say that he won’t be making a triumphant return!
“Things are always looking good with ‘300,’ it’s a blessing and a gift. Zack’s a genius, and no matter where you go it’s the one movie that people around the world seem to somewhat identify with the most,” explained Canton.
But if you’re thinking that no sequel could ever be the same without Gerard Butler, don’t worry — because Canton revealed to us that even King Leonidas could be brought back from the dead. “Never assume anything; never assume anything,” he repeated when I asked if the original cast were gone for good. “It’ll be what it’ll be. But if we really do it, in this case, we have a visionary creator and a visionary filmmaker.”
Sound interesting? It certainly does! Whether Butler will return or not remains to be seen, but you could argue that 300 has been Butler’s biggest film to date (lets just forget “P.S. I love You” shall we?) So in all honesty, stranger things have happened…
